Purpose of a Safeguarding Adult Board

The overarching purpose of a SAB is to:

  • assure itself that local safeguarding arrangements are in place as defined by the Care Act
  • prevent abuse and neglect where possible
  • provide a timely and proportionate responses when abuse or neglect has occurred

Core Duties for each SAB include:       

  1. Publishing a strategic plan outlining what the Board and its members will do
  2. Publishing an annual report to highlight the work and activities it has carried out each year
  3. Conducting Safeguarding Adult Reviews in accordance with Section 44 of the Care Act;
